The month-long program has two levels that developers need to complete for a chance to win VIP passes to Microsoft’s upcoming AI Tour

Microsoft announced the launch of an initiative that aims to skill 100,000 developers in India in the latest AI technologies and tools. The program offers comprehensive learning experience that helps developers acquire and demonstrate the relevant skills needed to execute critical projects using AI technologies that align with business goals and outcomes. With AI revolutionizing the way we work and live, India needs a skilled workforce that can use AI to solve complex problems and create value. Through programs like AI Odyssey, Microsoft is offering opportunities for developers to build solutions for India’s growth and showcase their talent to solve real-world problems. To participate in the AI Odyssey, developers need to register on aka.ms/AIOdyssey and access the learning modules and resources. The month-long program is open to all AI enthusiasts in India, regardless of experience level or background. The program has two levels that participants need to complete by January 31, 2024. The first level of the program educates participants on how to use Azure AI services to create and deploy AI solutions for different scenarios. This will give them access to useful resources, code samples, and guides to master practical AI skills.

The Innovative Amphi AI Beamforming technology is integrated into Acer’s naked-eye 3D monitors for encapsulating audio experiences

Audioscenic, the UK-based developer of the Amphi AI Beamforming spatial audio technology, announces their collaboration with Acer, one of the world’s top ICT companies, to integrate their technology with Acer Immerse Audio. The technology is available on its newest SpatialLabs 3D monitors: the Acer SpatialLabs View Pro 27 and the Predator SpatialLabs View 27. Combined with Acer’s industry-leading naked-eye 3D visualisation solution, the 27-inch SpatialLabs monitors offer enveloping 3D gaming and viewing experiences with Audioscenic’s proprietary audio technology to provide a completely immersive listening experience without the need for headphones. Audioscenic will showcase a wide range of implementations of their spatial audio technology at the 2024 CES Show in Las Vegas from Tuesday, January 9th to Friday February 12th, 2024, at The Venetian Hotel on the 29th Floor of the Venetian Tower.

“Enhanced by Audioscenic’s Amphi 3D audio beamforming technology, Acer Immersive Audio complements the sensual stereo 3D experiences on the 27” SpatialLabs monitors. Rich soundscapes are echoed from dual 2.5 W speakers for truly encapsulating experiences for gamers, cinephiles and developers. These efforts prove our dedication to providing an intuitive and natural, yet captivating digital adventure without the need for additional components such as headphones or glasses,” comments Jane Hsu, Head of Business Development, Spatial Computing BU at Acer.

Chunghwa Telecom and Ericsson enable 5G connected ambulances with network slicing

Introducing reliable, accessible mobility solutions for healthcare services is an important area of growth and development for 5G globally. In Taiwan, with a clearly identified need for technological answers to health challenges presented by, among other things, an aging population, there is an opportunity for companies like Chunghwa Telecom, alongside partners like Ericsson, to use the capabilities of 5G networks to help improve healthcare services. Eyeing that potential to contribute positively to the society, and develop new business models for 5G, Chunghwa Telecom recently developed 5G connected ambulances utilizing Ericsson’s end-to-end network slicing technology.

This field trial was completed on Chunghwa’s 5G standalone (SA) network in collaboration with Ericsson and St. Paul’s Hospital. With network slicing capabilities, the 5G connected ambulances allow transmission of vital signs and real-time data in high-resolution 4K videos, facilitating remote diagnosis and quicker decision-making. Clinicians can access diagnostic exams conducted in the field, optimizing treatment plans even before the patient arrives at the hospital. Additionally, clinicians can provide instant guidance to the paramedic to take necessary actions, ultimately saving lives and improving outcomes.

Recommended AI News: Riding on the Generative AI Hype, CDP Needs a New Definition in 2024

AIThority Predictions Series 2024 bannerDr. Wang Fenglin, Associate Dean of St. Paul’s Hospital, commented, “Connected ambulances will play a crucial role in assisting emergency department staff in targeting treatment and prioritizing urgent cases. Time is the most critical resource in emergency care and every second counts. In the past, clinical assessment of the patient could only start once they arrived at the hospital, but now 5G makes a difference. “

Network slicing, a key feature of 5G standalone architecture, empowers communication service providers (CSPs) to tailor connectivity services for specific use cases. By leveraging Ericsson end-to-end network slicing technology, powered by Ericsson 5G Core network, Chunghwa Telecom is able to optimize network performance demanded by the 5G connected ambulances. It can ensure that patient information is readily available to clinicians through an isolated and high-speed network slice created through Ericsson’s Dynamic Radio Resource Partitioning, securing capacity and stable communications that lead to more efficient and effective care.

Alex Chien, President of Network Technology Group of Chunghwa Telecom, stated, “The partnership between Chunghwa Telecom, Ericsson and St. Paul’s Hospital represents a significant advancement in emergency medical care. We are committed to enabling digital transformation for both public and private sectors with advanced 5G technology. This collaboration also demonstrates the power of technology to make positive impacts on the society.”

David Chou, President of Ericsson Taiwan, said, “We are delighted to work hand in hand with Chunghwa Telecom to empower medical profession with the benefits of network slicing capabilities, which can only be fully unleashed on 5G standalone networks. Globally, nearly 40 CSPs have launched 5G standalone commercial services in public networks, of which more than half are powered by Ericsson. We will continue to support our customers to create differentiated services to improve and save lives.”

According to joint research by Ericsson and Arthur D. Little (ADL), the global market size for network slicing in healthcare services is projected to reach USD 62 billion by 2030, with USD 23 billion addressable revenue for CSPs.

AIThority Predictions Series 2024 bannerIn the run-up to WRC-2023, Ericsson and MediaTek have successfully carried out an interoperability test on the 6 GHz licensed 5G band as part of efforts by telecom vendors, service providers, and device/chipset makers to build a global ecosystem for this spectrum. The test involving 5G NR data calls over 6 GHz band was performed with a MediaTek prototype test device and an Ericsson base station. This was the first 5G NR ecosystem call on the 3GPP-defined n104 band (6.425 – 7.125 GHz).

Per Beming, Head of Standard & Industry Initiatives at Ericsson, says: ”Mobile networks play a central role in the digitalization of society. But they require a sufficient amount of spectrum with the right regulatory conditions to provide the needed connectivity. 5G is the fastest growing mobile generation to date, and many countries may soon run out of mid-band spectrum. The joint demo with MediaTek shows growing global ecosystem support for the 6 GHz band, and both consumers and society at large stand to benefit hugely if this spectrum is made available as a midband expansion layer.”

Dr. HC Hwang, General Manager of Wireless Communication Systems & Partnerships at MediaTek, says: “Through our unmatched wireless IP and product platforms, MediaTek supports the vital 6GHz band in both unlicensed and licensed spaces, in reflection of regional regulations and product needs, through comprehensive wireless and cellular technologies ready to accommodate each ecosystem.”

The 5G NR call over 6 GHz used pre-commercial 3GPP radio solutions on both Ericsson and MediaTek side. Additionally, Ericsson has commercial 3GPP radio solutions in the pipeline, ready to be deployed once the licensed spectrum is made available, based on market demand.
