Robocall Data in the US: 28.7 Billion Robocalls In 2022 So Far

The monthly robocall data published by YouMail revealed US citizens received over 28 billion robocalls in 2022 so far (between 1 January and 30 June 2022). According to the data, US citizens are increasingly exposed to robocalls that are poorly structured and mostly rejected by the recipients due to security and privacy concerns.

• January: 3.9 billion, average 126.3 million, average calls per person; 11.9
• Feb: 3.8 billion, average 134.3 million, average calls per person; 11.5
• March: 3.9 billion, average 126.3 million, average calls per person; 11.9
• April: 3.9 billion, average 131.4 million, average calls per person; 12
• May: 4 billion, average 128.7 million, average calls per person; 12.2
• June: 4.3 billion, average 144.3 million, average calls per person; 13.2

Clearly, the robocall data shows how callers are increasingly relying on robocalling to set up conversations with the US residents. From 3.9 billion average calls in January 2022, the volume has steadily crossed 4B+ in the last 6 months. In March 2021, robocalling stood at 4.9 billion, a person receiving 15.1  calls on an average. 159.4 million calls were made per day in March 2021. In the last 18 months, March 2021 was the busiest period in the robocalling history which could be attributed to the last few weeks of relaxed phase in the US before second COVID-19 wave struck in March and April. With things opening up again in 2022, robocalling data is likely to explode further.

Top robocalling agencies and sources in the US

As per the Robocall Data 2022, Toll Free numbers were the among the biggest sources of robocalling activities. A majority of the robocalls were made by callers associated with these institutions:

• Credit card debt collector
• Financial customer call
• Medical test results
• Credit card payment reminder
• Bank payment reminder

Tax debt reduction scammers, vaccination scammers, home warranty spammers, and prison call consent were other high-volume robocalling types that harassed US citizens in the last 6-8 months.
