LLMs bring a new level of natural language processing and understanding capabilities, making them versatile tools for enhancing communication, automation, and data analysis tasks. They unlock new capabilities in chatbots, content generation, language translation, sentiment analysis, text summarization, question-answering systems, and personalized recommendations. Due to their large model size and the extensive processing required, most LLM-based applications have been confined to the cloud. However, many OEMs want to reduce reliance on costly, overburdened data centers by deploying LLMs at the edge. Additionally, running LMM-based applications on edge devices improves reliability, reduces latency, and provides a better user experience.

“Edge AI designs require a careful balance of performance, power consumption, area, and latency,” said Da Chuang, co-founder and CEO of Expedera. “Our architecture enables us to customize an NPU solution for a customer’s use cases, including native support for their specific neural network models such as LLMs. Because of this, Origin IP solutions are extremely power-efficient and almost always outperform competitive or in-house solutions.”

Expedera’s patented packet-based NPU architecture eliminates the memory sharing, security, and area penalty issues that conventional layer-based and tiled AI accelerator engines face. The architecture is scalable to meet performance needs from the smallest edge nodes to smartphones to automobiles. Origin NPUs deliver up to 128 TOPS per core with sustained utilization averaging 80%—compared to the 20-40% industry norm—avoiding dark silicon waste.

First-of-its-kind System Intends to Deliver Charging Ecosystem Players a Centralized Hub for Ongoing Compatibility Testing for the EV Industry

IBM,  Terbine and the American Center for Mobility (ACM) announced the establishment of an industry-wide open-source platform to provide interoperability testing for vehicle and charger manufacturers, charging network operators and others who make up the “EV Ecosystem.” The initiative’s goal is to eliminate many of the problems plaguing the electric vehicle charging landscape.

“It’s not enough to simply switch plug formats if we want EV charging to be as seamless and dependable as pumping gas has been for decades,” said Brenda Cucci, Senior Partner for Global Sustainability with IBM. “The industry needs a means to continually test all the elements involved with the ‘electron supply chain’ as software and hardware get updated, to ensure that consumers and commercial drivers have confidence in charging infrastructure. This is about accelerating the migration to zero-emission vehicles and the global reduction of greenhouse gas emissions,” Cucci continued.

Recommended AI News: Riding on the Generative AI Hype, CDP Needs a New Definition in 2024

AIThority Predictions Series 2024 bannerThe Interoperability Clearing House (ICH), developed by technology providers IBM and Terbine, will enable manufacturers of both vehicles and chargers to test their latest software at ACM’s main facility in Michigan as well as virtually. Leveraging state-of-the-art artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, the platform is intended to bring ongoing cross-product testing to the EV industry and will be open to participants from around the globe.

Recommended AI News: GiantLeap Capital Invests in Articul8, Intel’s Enterprise Generative AI Spin-off

“It’s time for the EV industry to have a platform for ensuring that everything works together all the time,” says Reuben Sarkar, ACM CEO. “We are the ideal organization to offer that service to companies and government agencies wanting a neutral and open environment for testing.”

A prevailing issue for EV drivers is synchronization errors caused by incompatibilities between the vehicles and the charging units. With Over-The-Air (OTA) software updating becoming common amongst vehicle and charger manufacturers, the problems with interoperability are increasing. The problems multiply as more EV and charging unit models come onto the market.

“Regardless of which connector the chargers and vehicles have – such as the Tesla-created North American Charging Standard, the physical plug is only one element, said David Knight, CEO of Terbine. “Most of the complexity is with how companies interpret the underlying ‘handshake’ protocols and other Realtime synchronization issues. The Interoperability Clearing House is intended to alleviate these issues that are scaring buyers away from moving to electric vehicles.”

This new generation of IoT-as-a-service is a valuable tool for IoT adopters as it delivers full IoT enablement where the hurdle of the capital investment for the module is financed by Telit Cinterion, allowing customers to figure the end-to-end solution as OPEX — rather than the complex CAPEX+OPEX model traditionally practiced in industry to date,” said Manish Watwani, Chief Marketing and Product Officer, Telit Cinterion. “As we stand at the forefront of transformative advancements in key verticals, innovative financing models like this one propel Telit Cinterion into the future of comprehensive, secure, and innovative solutions from design to deployment.”

The launch of this new generation of secure and connected module packages marks a significant advancement in IoT solution enablement. By integrating hardware modules, connectivity, and management tool options into a single unified offering, businesses can take advantage of seamless, comprehensive IoT solutions spanning design and deployment. By becoming the sole provider of the module — its financing, support, and services for the IoT project — Telit Cinterion simplifies the complex challenges associated with managing multiple mobile operators, hardware providers, certifications, cybersecurity challenges and connectivity. This streamlines the entire process and allows businesses to focus on their core differentiators, boosting overall deployment, and operational and cost efficiencies.

Acceleration Economy has introduced AnalystGPT – a private GPT instance that sources over 10,000 first-party reports, articles, and videos by Practitioner Analysts to answer questions about AI, cloud, cybersecurity, and data.

Created to shorten the time to value for business and technology professionals that need answers to career defining AI, cloud, cybersecurity, and data questions, AnalystGPT is free for the first 5,000 subscribers, and then moves to a $199 annual Acceleration Economy Education subscription, which also includes first-party reports and executive courses.

AIThority Predictions Series 2024 banner“When we launched Acceleration Economy in 2021 after the merger with Cloud Wars, Bob Evans and I had a vision to create a new category of tech analysts based on real-world C-Suite experience—decentralizing intelligence about the actual work that goes into strategic planning, technology evaluation, implementation, and the ROI they expect from those investments, now we get to that work from static articles, reports and videos to a dynamic GPT model,” said John Siefert, CEO of Dynamic Communities and Co-Founder of Acceleration Economy.

AnalystGPT answers are delivered by codifying C-level practitioner intelligence from IT, business and finance roles based on their real-world experience with transformative business technology strategy, evaluation criteria, roadmaps, frameworks, and implementation plans.

“We will look back and shake our heads at how slow and sloppy the process of trying to get answers was by searching on the web or sending emails and hoping you have the right person, then waiting hours, if not days, to get answers from legacy analysts,” said Bob Evans, Founder of Cloud Wars and Co-Founder of Acceleration Economy.

Simply ask your AI, Cloud, Cybersecurity and Data questions in natural language, and AnalystGPT will deliver answers from business and technology executives based on their experience.
